A Lexington Public Library card can by obtained by registering at our front desk. You will need a form of photo identification,
such as a driver's license or Illinois State I.D., which shows Lexington residency. Once registered, you will be able to immediately check out library media. This card will be good for 3 years, and requires renewal upon expiration. A new library card is free, replacement cards are $5.00.

For those with residence OUTSIDE the boundaries of the Lexington Public Library District (or its neighboring districts) you may purchase a Lexington Public Library card for family use for an annual fee of $135.33. [Fee amount is based on Illinois State Library formula].
Lexington Public Library cardholders are entitled to borrowing privileges at any member library of the Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS).
Books (hardback, paperback, audiobooks) and magazines are loaned for 2 weeks.
New DVDs are loaned 3 days; DVDs are loaned for 1 week.
Households and patrons (18 & older) may checkout at most 5 DVDs (at most 2 'New' DVDs).
Interlibrary DVD orders should not exceed 2 per patron.
New cardholders (less than 3 months) limited to 1 DVD/audiobook, 2 books/magazines; for maximum of 3 items loaned.
Overdue books, magazines, and audiobooks are $.05 per day. Overdue DVDs are $1.00 per day. Cash only.
Patrons with fines exceeding $5.00 are prohibited from checking out library materials. Cash only.
Services to Disabilities & Special Needs Patrons
Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., a library representative is at the Lexington Community Center to provide services.
Upon request, the library will make further arrangements for the relocation of programs, services, and activities for disabled persons. If you cannot access the Library, either temporarily or permanently, and are a Lexington Public Library card holder, please contact the Main Checkout Desk (309-365-7801) to schedule a monthly home delivery appointment.
Desktop computers and Chromebooks are available for the public (library card not required) for internet and word processing. Patrons must sign in and sign out. A 1-hour time limit is enforced when patrons are waiting for computers.
Lexington Public Library has wireless internet available to all patrons.

Black/white is $0.10 per side printed; Color is $0.50 per side printed.
First page is $1.00, additional pages are each $0.50.
Notary Public services are available (with no fee) at the Main Checkout Desk.
The Library Auditorium (on top floor) may be scheduled for meetings. The Library Auditorium includes an elevated stage, seating, piano, and a projector.
Materials not in the Lexington Library collection can be requested through interlibrary loan using RAILS. You must have a library card.
Donations are accepted for the purchase of materials in memory of, in honor of an individual or organization. Inquiries should be made at the Main Checkout Desk.
